As a music nerd of unconscionable proportions, I get up in an unwieldly tizzy when people are ignorant of music. Now, obviously, they’re probably just not as psychotic about it as me. Still, say, when the only Counting Crows song I have any chance of hearing is “Mr. Jones”; I find exception, as August and Everything after is really a classic album, one that I can listen to straight through on an almost unparalleled alt-rock journey emotions and textures.
So for this list I’ve hand-selected a few bands or artists of whom I typically only hear one song and chosen a couple other tracks by each, to spotlight and bolster our musical repertoire. I mean, all the stuff is right there on those juke boxes. You might as well use it. Those things are a frickin’ rip-off. And, yes, I’m sure there’s a bunch I’ve overlooked.
