“A Brief List of Bands Which Have Emulated Radiohead in the Last 20 Years with Something Approaching the General Module of Success”

Well, Radiohead, you ain’t gotta tell me twice… you put out a studio album where the last song is recycled from your live album, and it sucked anyway, I’m gonna turn my head in the Julia Holter/Dandy Warhols direction of the proceedings.

Well, sh**, all you did was invent your own sovereign, world-shifting musical style, a sort of tense, deliberately debilitated brand of Caucasian jazz, very much epitomizing the less-is-more tenet, the middle eight in Amnesiac’s “Dollars and Cents” most thence typifying. MTV has not been good since your videos, for “Karma Police,” for “No Surprises,” for “Paranoid Android,” graced it… and the best part of you was that you had the balls to actually make your singles your best songs, like Nirvana, hence essentially revivifying the mainstream music industry whilst simultaneously edifying our psyches and our deepest, darkest thoughts.
Much, but not enough, has been made, of your In Rainbows method of mercantilism — a method which was gathered by Paste Magazine to catastrophic, deleterious results, a method the results of which, I don’t imagine, would be too inspiring of the transmitting artistic muse. So you want to dole us a dogpile of crap. I get it. I don’t fu**ing blame you one bit, PJ Harvey is doing the same thing, but none too soon.
Enjoy the moment… I’m sure you’ll get a lot of showgoers this year deigning attention as a methodological ploy for getting laid (I will not be one of them)… play “Creep” for… some odd reason… let your aesthetics be your guide, the dorky, awkward, undersized and slightly extraterrestrial looking white boy who once guided us in, now suspended in commercial success upon some gliding inner peace, presumably enough… well, what even is music these days, anyway? Oh yeah, massive attack. And a lot of other things.
..

Califone – “Rose Petal Ear”

Grizzly Bear – “All We Ask”

  1. Two things you can check: 1.) if you got automatic tranny, follow this video and see if engine quits when you floor it. 2.) If no automatic, take it for a spin for 30 mins and find max speed, if over 65 mph without ovneieathrg engine and has no smoke at tailpipe, then you really got a deal.
